What This Is
The Girls Code the World Subscription-Based Program is a new way to bring STEM learning into your home.
As part of our pilot program, your child will receive hands-on activity kits and access to engaging online lessons designed to build confidence, curiosity, and excitement about STEM.

Access fun, hands-on lessons designed for ages 8–12
Share feedback that shapes our program before it launches widely
Help expand access to STEM education for other families
-
Your child will:
Complete 3 hands-on STEM lessons over ~3 months
Follow along with short, engaging video lessons
Optionally join live virtual sessions
Explore topics like engineering, coding, and real-world science
-
~60–90 minutes per lesson, opportunity to participate:
Synchronously via Zoom during pre-planned sessions with our trained facilitators
Asynchronously via our website with a personalized login
3 total lessons over ~3 months, one required each month
Short pre- and post-lesson surveys (10-15 minutes each) for your child

Program Details
Who is this for?
Children ages 8–12 in the Mid-Atlantic region (PA, NJ, NY, MD, VA).
We will make exceptions for younger students who can participate independently online.
Cost
Completely free. Participants receive all materials at no cost in exchange for completing surveys and participating in the pilot
Parent Involvement
We recommend light supervision (especially for younger children or use of tools), but the lessons are designed for kids to engage independently.
What if we can’t attend a live session?
No problem! All lessons can be completed asynchronously through videos.
Why are surveys required?
Your feedback helps us:
Understand what works (and what doesn’t)
Improve the program before scaling
Expand access to more families
Is my data safe?
Yes. All survey data is de-identified and securely stored, and participation is confidential
Where will this data collection go?
We eventually plan to publish our research findings in collaboration with Penn State University. Participation in research is optional and does not affect program participation.
About Girls Code the World
Girls Code the World is a nonprofit organization founded in 2018 with a mission to empower girls and young students in STEM through confidence-building, hands-on learning experiences. Over the past several years, we’ve:
Led in-person STEM programs and workshops
Developed interactive curriculum across coding, science, and engineering
Worked with students, families, and young mentors to build meaningful learning experiences
Through this work, we learned something important:
The students who benefit most from STEM enrichment often face barriers to accessing it — whether due to cost, transportation, or scheduling.
So we asked ourselves: How can we bring high-quality STEM experiences directly into the home?
Our Subscription-Based Program is the next evolution of our work. It combines everything we’ve learned:
Hands-on, engaging activities (what students love)
Flexible, at-home learning (what families need)
Confidence-building experiences (what actually makes a difference)
And we’re building it thoughtfully.
We are currently partnering with Penn State University to co-develop and evaluate this program.
